Omnichannel is a term for selling items via website, store, apps, and delivered via the best method -- pickup in-store, direct ship from store or warehouse/3PL. "Already outmoded", according to Gartner in a November 2021 study ("Retail Supply Chain Excellence") stating "omnichannel is too narrow" a thought and "top retailers have moved to a holistic approach." But, Gartner also recommends to "Develop capabilities to improve product-level store inventory accuracy by amending counting processes and investing in RFID technologies."
Simply: Omnichannel is implemented by top retailers to deliver a great customer experience.
