FAQ > NoxVault > How do I adjust the RFID power level on my NoxVault?

Search the FAQ for entries containing:

Your NoxVault uses a configuration file stored on the handheld to determine a variety of settings, one of which is the signal strength of the RFID reader embedded in the handheld. You can manipulate this setting by editing this file and changing the power setting to better suit your needs.

1. Connect your handheld to your PC
2. Browse to your handheld via "Computer" or "My Computer" in the same way you'd normally do to get the NoxVault.csv file from your handheld
3. Copy the file "NoxVault.cfg" from your handheld to your computer
4. Edit the copied file in Notepad (please do not edit in anything other than Notepad as it can mess up the proper formatting for the file)
5. Look for the line that says "power=". Change the number that is currently assigned to that setting to the one you wish to use (see below for an explanation on power settings)
6. Copy the saved file back to your handheld in the same directory in which you found it

The power setting can be increased/decreased by factors of 10. The range of this setting is 10 to 300. Keep in mind that raising this setting is an exponential power increase, not linear : A setting of 30 is not 3 times more powerful than 10...more like 10-20 times more powerful.
