The second coming of RFID

A couple days ago, I put a slide up on 'how RFID has changed dramatically over the last two years'.

I've been seeing a lot of that sentiment lately.

Andy Kowl of RFID Switchboard writes:

"If two years ago was the last you paid attention to RFID, then you know almost nothing about it."

I completely agree. I attached the slide again to illustrate what we have found in Gen2 RFID over the last couple years and my RFID World presentation, hereAt20

A couple other experts seem to be following this thought.  Odin Technologies, who I know nothing about except they seem to test the living crap out of things, spoke with RFID Journal in an article on asset tracking. In it Odin states,

"a rack of 40 servers could be inventoried in less than 30 seconds"

and that by using the right combination of hardware and tags, effective asset tracking systems can be deployed.  [NOTE: I'd link the ODIN report on this but can't find the full link].

Finally, RFID Wizards collected a summary of the RFID World 2008 show saying simply:

“It’s arrived. Now get to work.”
